I played it yesterday on Win7 and it even works there :D+ Campaign map which allmost all RTS fail to have, here it adds good depth+Tactical deep gameplay+ Simplistic RTS with few buildings to build that actually have meaning+ Units with soldiers and officers drum/flagbearers have more moral+ Units automaticly form column on roads to travel faster ( A super inovative feature)+ Units have morale and can break if they get to weak or march to hard+ Units gain experience during the battles+ Caring devs that really wants this diamond to shine even brighter to a new audience and attract us old fans of the game.- New feature -+ Skirmish which now supoorts a battle with several enemeies or allies on the same map. In the original Cossacks2 it only supported 1 vs 1 against ai.- Only minus is that you cant adjust the gamespeed of it, Then it could have been even more tactical combat and you wouldnt have the need to pause when you are into a battle, but this is not a minus on the game itself.- No map editor or mod support to add more maps into it.- If you start the game in 1024 resolution it will still be that resolution when you go back to desktop. this game not working. Works without issues on Windows 7.. Heads up requires a lot of hoops to get it to run on windows 10, if its even possible at all. I didn't want to put the work into making it run, but this is the solution that looked most likely to work to me. 1) Set both engine.exe and startengine.exe compatibility to XP3.2) Set log.txt to read only.3) Rename settings.cfg and settings.xml (i.e. I renamed as settings.oldcfg and settings.oldxml respectivley).4) Search bar for "Windows Features", activate, then click on Legacy Components, expand and then click DirectPlay. I did not delete any .bik files. I did not copy d3d8.dll into the directory.But as windows 10 is standard and its a game that will run for 0% of people on said platform as is, thumbs down.The game itself may be good, I wouldn't know.. Barring the rare extremely annoying crashes, this is the better, more complete, version of Cossacks 2. The game was patched recently which has made the game significantly more stable, but it still has obvious bugs and rough patches. Such as artillery that will spontaneously teleport across the battle, seriously what the hell. Or the abysmal engineer pathfinding, where they will construct a defense and then take ten minutes to reform. Still Cossacks 2 is a unique RTS experience and I would recommend it. Just remember to save often. Very often.. As I think the Win 7 64 Bit is unstable and crashes randomly. But the game is very, very nice. But couldn't play it too much - as I said. So this should be fixed or do not recommend it for Win 7 - if you know that this game will crashes!. Does not work for new-er model computers. good game. but i prefer the prequel... more easier :P. I have been playing Cossacks, since it's initial release, in 2001. I disliked this version, at first. Although, after watching some 'Youtube' tutorials, I found myself engrossed.This is an amazing game! I have put countless hours into it, outside of "STEAM". There is a slight learning curve.I highly recommend it!
